We invest in processing
By strengthening local processing, we create a positive social and environmental impact and ensure reliable supply and quality.
New factory for cashews and dried mango in Burkina Faso
We source our cashews and dried mango in Burkina Faso. Since 2021, we have invested EUR 11 million in a new on-site factory in Bobo Dioulasso – a key step to increase output and improve operations.
We opened our new factory “la belle usine” at the end of 2025. The processing site will be fully operational by 2028. Read more about the new processing facility.
Here is the evolution of the impact of our activities in figures:
After more than 20 years of working with farmers in Burkina Faso, the opening of our new processing plant marks a key milestone. By processing at the source, we ensure consistent quality, full traceability, and a reliable supply. At the same time, it reduces intermediaries and improves cost efficiency for our B2B customers.
Big plans for Togo
We are shifting chocolate production from Europe to Togo to increase value creation at origin while meeting Swiss quality standards. The project includes building a modern processing facility, supported by Swiss chocolate expertise and local professionals.
Over five years of continuous growth, we will move from initial test production to industrial-scale manufacturing. Our focus is on processing cocoa beans locally to produce Swiss-quality chocolate, cocoa mass, cocoa butter and cocoa powder. You can read more about our business plan here.
Starting from a small test manufactory in Lomé, production will be scaled step by step thanks to crowdfunding. The initiative creates local jobs, sources from local farmers, and keeps a larger share of the chocolate value chain in Togo. gebana Togo aims to reach an annual production capacity of up to 300 kg of cocoa products by 2030.
To scale chocolate production to an industrial level, we are seeking additional investors.
