Our plan for gebana Togo

We are moving away from soy and towards our own local chocolate production.

With our own chocolate production, we are completely revamping gebana Togo's business model. Until last year, we were still focusing on the export of local organic soy. We had been planning to exit the soy business for some time, but the boom in soy prices in 2022/23 made us hesitate. This was a mistake: In 2024, the prices for organic soy fell to unprecedented lows, leaving our subsidiary with a loss of almost one million euros. We are now leaving the soy market and focusing on cocoa. In addition to chocolate, we continue to sell cocoa beans. We also want to increase the amount of dried pineapple, which is also produced locally. We expect gebana Togo to generate total sales of around £10.5 million by 2030.

Quality like Swiss chocolate

We have already produced our first bars in our mini production facility at the gebana Togo office. The next step is to set up large-scale professional production and improve the quality of our chocolate. We will purchase the same machines that are used in smaller Swiss chocolate factories. In addition, we can count on the expertise of our consultants from the local chocolate industry. This enables us to produce chocolate creations that can easily compete with a bar from Switzerland in terms of taste and consistency. We focus on chocolate varieties with a high cocoa content and do not plan to produce milk chocolate.

Flexible production of various cocoa products

In addition to finished chocolate bars and chocolate drops, we will also export semi-finished products for further processing. We will sell raw cocoa mass as well as cocoa butter and cocoa powder to the industry. We can adjust the quantities of individual products to the market demand. Our long-term goal is to continuously increase the amount of chocolate produced and to manufacture up to 280 tonnes of chocolate annually.
